1 Chronicles 28:9 NKJV
“As for you, my son Solomon, know the God of your father, and serve Him with a loyal heart and with a willing mind; for the LORD searches all hearts and understands all the intent of the thoughts. If you seek Him, He will be found by you; but if you forsake Him, He will cast you off forever.”
To every divine plan and purpose of God, there will always be evil opposing schemes sent from the devil to counteract. From the garden of Eden, all through the Scriptures, to the garden of Gethsemane and to date, the distracting forces of darkness are seen at work. Perhaps it is for this reason that David—who had known better from his own experiences—gave a strong word to Solomon on commitment and caution, as stated in our reference Scripture. On the one hand, David said to his son, “As for you, my son Solomon, KNOW the God of your father, and serve Him with a LOYAL heart and with a WILLING mind.”
Certainly, that kind of advice requires active commitment daily. To know, to have a loyal heart and a willing mind must all be done on purpose. They don’t just happen passively—for there are opposing evil forces all out to bring about the contrary. On the other hand, Solomon was given a strong caution: “…if you forsake Him [God], He will cast you off forever.” That emphasizes why maintaining a humble and contrite heart before the Lord is so important. Indeed, regardless of how clear your calling to service is or how strong the anointing upon your life is, humility of heart is foundational.
David said, “For the LORD searches all hearts and understands all the intent of the thoughts.” Notice, He (the LORD) does not only understand all of man’s thoughts, but the intent of each thought is open to His understanding. Oh, there is nothing secret before His eyes that do not sleep nor slumber! Child of God, hide God’s word in your heart richly on purpose and let it be your final authority in all circumstances. The Spirit of God loves to actualize what God speaks. As such, a Word-filled and lowly life is poised for the Spirit of God to display God’s glory in remarkable ways.
