Revelation 5:12 KJV
“Saying with a loud voice, Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power, and riches, and wisdom, and strength, and honour, and glory, and blessing.”
The obedience of our Lord Jesus to the will of God the Father made Him receive such incomparable virtues that apply and dominate in heaven, on earth, and under the earth. He who was once despised, rejected, and scorned by men, is now highly exalted and has been given a name “which is above EVERY name” (Php 2:9 KJV). Hallelujah! In John’s spiritual vision of heaven, he heard wonderful words of worship said by the angels to Christ Jesus, saying, “Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power, and riches, and wisdom, and strength, and honour, and glory, and blessing”, as in our reference text.
From that text, we understand that, unlike the Old Testament lamb that only ‘earned’ a year’s covering of Israel’s sins, the death of the Perfect Lamb of God did much more by far! For instance, not only have we been “sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all” (Heb 10:10 NKJV), but His being slain made Him receive power, riches, wisdom, strength, honor, glory, and blessing, with which He reigns at the Father’s right hand. While this is truly wonderful, knowing that Christ is our federal Head—and that we, the Church, are His body—makes it all the more glorious.
From the fullness of what He has received of the Father, our Head, and Lord Jesus Christ also made the Church “full and complete” (Eph 1:23 NLT). In that light, it is safe to believe that it is our portion (as the Church), therefore, to equally operate, to a certain extent, in power, and riches, and wisdom, and strength, and honour, and glory, and blessing here on earth—all to the praise of our Head, Lord, and Saviour Jesus Christ. Yes, we in Christ are “a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a dedicated nation, [God’s] own purchased, special people,” to “set forth the wonderful deeds and display the virtues and perfections” of God who called us “out of darkness into His marvelous light” (1 Pet 2:9 AMPC). Hallelujah!
