THOUGHTS FASTENED ON GOD

Psalm 48:9 TPT
“Lord, as we worship you in your temple, we recall over and over your kindness to us and your unending love.”

Maintaining a balance between bringing our requests to God and worshiping Him for all He has already done requires intentional thought. As God’s people are faced with what this earthly life brings along daily, it is possible to be overtaken by a request-driven life rather than a balanced request-and-worship-driven life in Christ. Put in context, the LORD is totally fine with His sons and daughters making their request known to Him (Psa 50:15; Jer 33:3; Php 4:6). It is His pleasure, as our righteous heavenly Father, to give much more “…good gifts to those who ask him” (Mat 7:11 NLT).

Yes, without any doubt, God’s riches in glory by Christ Jesus are more than enough to match and oversupply all our needs put together for our entire lifetime! As the Father takes pleasure in meeting our needs, however, it is a responsible and honourable act on our part to take pleasure in worshiping Him consistently and from deep within our hearts. His greatness and the things He has done for us, in and through Christ, should always stay on our minds. The Psalmist put that better to the Lord in our text, saying, “Lord, as we worship you in your temple, we recall over and over your kindness to us and your unending love.” Hallelujah!

To recall the Lord’s kindness and unending love over and over again is not only so thoughtful to do, but it is also a spiritual weapon to our advantage. Notice, the same mind that you use for recalling God’s goodness is the same mind that the devil targets to hit with things that displease the Father. However, regardless of what the devil does, when our minds are constantly saturated with worship and thanksgiving to the Lord, every attack of the enemy is kept in check and at bay. Yes, the Scripture says to “…keep your thoughts continually fixed on all that is authentic and real, honorable and admirable, beautiful and respectful, pure and holy, merciful and kind. And fasten your thoughts on every glorious work of God, praising him ALWAYS” (Php 4:8 TPT). Hallelujah!
