Psalm 84:7 AMP
“They go from strength to strength [increasing in victorious power]; Each of them appears before God in Zion.”
Every step of faith towards God or His Word is a step of strength. Figuratively speaking, the closer we draw to Him, the stronger we become, and weakness and fear give way. Inversely, the farther away we are from Him, the weaker our resolve and pursuit of the matters of the Spirit. The Psalmist’s description of the pilgrims in our text of reference is a physical act that happened. Although the pilgrims passed through “the Valley of Weeping (Baca)” (Psa 84:6 AMP), they kept going “from strength to strength [increasing in victorious power]; Each of them appears before God in Zion.” Hallelujah!
As can be seen from the description, though the pilgrims passed the valley of weeping, they never stopped in there but kept walking towards Zion, the place where God was met with and worshipped. That implies that the focus of the pilgrims was not on the facts and experiences in the valley, but on God before whom they ultimately sought to appear. As such, it is safe to take it that the spiritual strength received from appearing before God far outweighs the (valley) experiences we may go through. Perhaps, it is for that reason that the Psalmist once cried out, saying, “When shall I come and appear before God?” (Psa 42:2 NKJV). Hallelujah!
The decision to draw near to God regarding any issues of life is, indeed, an opportunity to tap into His divine strength, as He draws near to us (Jam 4:8). Most blessedly, in Christ Jesus, we have a grand and open invitation to “…approach the throne of grace [that is, the throne of God’s gracious favor] with confidence and without fear, so that we may receive mercy [for our failures] and find [His amazing] grace to help in time of need [an appropriate blessing, coming just at the right moment]” (Heb 4:16 AMP). Hallelujah! Like it was for the pilgrims heading to Zion, there is assured mercy and grace for us at God’s throne. Make it a priority to daily approach the place of divine strength and live strong in the LORD and in the power of His might!
