NO LONGER SILENT BUT PRAISE

1 Samuel 2:1 AMPC
“Hannah prayed, and said, My heart exults and triumphs in the Lord; my horn (my strength) is lifted up in the Lord. My mouth is no longer silent, for it is opened wide over my enemies, because I rejoice in Your salvation.”

There are names of God’s people in the Bible that, when mentioned, immediately bring to mind something specific about them. For instance, Abraham’s name is quickly associated with faith. When you think of a woman of effectual prayer in the Bible, few other names come close to Hannah’s. She bears the emblem of prayer with powerful evidence: Samuel is a product of her prayer life. While dedicating the child, she said, “I prayed for this child, and the Lord has granted me what I asked of him” (1 Sam 1:27 NIV). Hallelujah!

When Hannah was still waiting on God for the fruit of the womb, Scripture says, “…Hannah wept much and prayed to the Lord…[she] was praying in her heart, and her lips were moving but her voice was NOT heard” (1 Sam 1:10, 13 NIV). At another time later, the Bible says, “Hannah prayed, and SAID…” Notice, to be able to hear Hannah’s words in prayer this time round is a grand testimony in itself! Previously, her prayer was full of anguish of soul, and while her lips were moving, her voice was not heard. Praise God that He heard what others could not hear and graciously answered!

Hannah’s previously heavy heart now “exults and triumphs in the Lord.” Her mouth that was silent “is no longer silent, for it is opened wide.” Hallelujah! This narrative relates to what David once experienced. He said, “I waited patiently for the LORD to help me, and he turned to me and heard my cry. He has given me a new song to sing, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see what he has done and be amazed. They will put their trust in the LORD” (Psa 40:1, 3 NLT). That is the unchanging nature of our great God (Mal 3:6)! Beloved, do not give up hope but wait on the LORD; for ‘silence-breaking’ miracles still happen to God’s people, and in Christ, you are no exception!
