A WORD-INSPIRED CONVICTION

Romans 4:21 AMPC
“Fully satisfied and assured that God was able and mighty to keep His word and to do what He had promised.”

How wonderful it is that a man who once worshipped other gods (Jos 24:2) could be transformed by the Holy Spirit to become a man of such great faith in God! Abraham’s life of faith stands as a powerful testimony to God’s ability to accomplish His purposes on earth through human vessels. Just a side thought: we would probably not have known Abraham as a man of faith and esteemed by God, had the Scriptures left out the narrative of his days of adversity. On the contrary, it was in the midst of Abraham’s most trying moments that the brilliance of his faith in God shone the brightest. Hallelujah!

Referring to Abraham’s firm trust in God, the Scripture says, he was “Fully satisfied and assured that God was able and mighty to keep His word and to do what He had promised”, as in our reference text. Beloved, that internal satisfaction and assurance in God’s mightiness is the core of true faith. How does all that begin, therefore? For Abraham, it began from the promise God had spoken to him saying, “So [numerous like the stars] shall your offspring be” (Gen 15:5 NIV). Notice that the word of God came when Abraham had not beheld the face of his offspring. Thus, his faith in God was firmly rooted in God’s word. Hallelujah!

Without any doubt, our God is well able and so mighty to keep His word and do what He promises. However, we have to be fully persuaded, fully satisfied, and fully assured that God is God—not man. That inner, God’s-Word-inspired conviction is so important and does shape our belief, direct our language in prayer, influence our choice of songs, and define our testimony—all in a way that unmistakably magnifies the glory and power of our promise-keeping God. Oh, keep your eyes fixed on God’s truth; from it stems both deep satisfaction and unwavering assurance in Him. Remember, every situation bows to the greatness of our God. As such, you, too, will testify to the glory of God!
