FAITHFUL IN SERVICE TO GOD

Ezekiel 44:15 NLT
“However, the Levitical priests of the family of Zadok continued to minister faithfully in the Temple when Israel abandoned me for idols. These men will serve as my ministers. They will stand in my presence and offer the fat and blood of the sacrifices, says the Sovereign LORD.”

Discovered or not, each of us in Christ has been given a lifetime opportunity to serve in God’s Kingdom. For instance, whether in the public setting or our private prayer closets, we—as stewards—are all to be mindful and given over (individually) to God’s Kingdom’s cause. Though the measure of the grace for service given to each of us may differ, “…it is required in stewards that [every]one be found faithful” (1 Cor 4:2 NKJV). Notice, to be “found” faithful takes more than what meets the eye. It involves the harmony between the righteous motives of the heart on the inside and the corresponding humble and continued commitment to the LORD on the outside.

In the Old Testament, the Prophet Jeremiah once heard these heavy words: “I, the LORD, search and examine the mind, I test the heart, To give to each man according to his ways, According to the results of his deeds” (Jer 17:10 AMP). In the New Testament, John also heard the following weighty words: “Behold, I (Jesus) am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me, to give to each one according to the merit of his deeds (earthly works, faithfulness)” (Rev 22:12 AMP). Reflect on that for a moment. Notice, both texts clearly contain the names of their Authors! Beloved, the LORD God and His Son Jesus Christ are concerned about how we spend our lives at our duty posts within the Kingdom.

As it was with Zadok the high priest, of whom God said, “…the family of Zadok continued to minister faithfully in the Temple when Israel abandoned me for idols” (as in our text), may we all be found faithful in the eyes of the LORD while serving Him. The Scripture says, “The end of a thing is better than its beginning…” (Ecc 7:8 NKJV). That requires faithfulness, among other things. Again, the grace for service may vary “…as Christ apportioned it” (Eph 4:7 NIV), but “…it is required in stewards that [every]one be found faithful” (1 Cor 4:2 NKJV). Remember, if we are “found faithful in very little” (Luk 19:17 ASV), God Himself will entrust us with much. Hallelujah!
