John 10:29-30 NKJV
“My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of My Father’s hand. I and My Father are one.”
As those who believe in the Lord Jesus as our personal Saviour, the spiritual placement we have in Him is firmly reliable and strong. To begin with, it took the power of God to break off the lifelong dominance of the kingdom of darkness over us. The Scripture says, God “…has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love, in whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins” (Col 1:13-14 NKJV). The plain fact that it took God to deliver us, implies that the dominion of darkness is not a thing mortal men can take lightly: its domineering effect can reign over people for the rest of their lives on earth!
Talking about the same greater power of God the Father, the Lord Jesus had this to say: “My Father, who has given them [believers in Christ] to Me, is GREATER THAN ALL; and no one is able to snatch them out of My Father’s hand. I and My Father are one,” as in our text of reference. Hallelujah! In being one with His Father, Jesus Christ is equally greater than all things, deities, or persons who stand opposed to the purposes of God. Christ is also powerful to keep all those the Father has given Him to save and shepherd. Thus, our place of sure safety against all present and future uncertainties is in the hands of God. Attaching weight to the Father’s work, Jesus also said this:
“No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him; and I will raise him up at the last day” (Joh 6:44 NKJV). Hallelujah! Again, God the Father did the greatest work of deliverance of our souls, and drew us to Jesus Christ. Notice, once the Father delivered us from the dominion of darkness, He immediately conveyed us into the Kingdom of His dear Son, Jesus Christ. As such, we are meant to respond fully and freely only to the blessed influence of Christ, and to the guiding authority of His Kingdom. Remember, in spiritual matters, there is no ‘no man’s land’, where no form of spiritual influence (good or otherwise) is operating. Let us keep within the blessed boundaries of the Kingdom of Christ, which is full of spiritual light and life, and greater authority!
