THE LORD: OUR GREAT ARCHITECT

1 Chronicles 28:19 NLT
“Every part of this plan,” David told Solomon, “was given to me in writing from the hand of the LORD.”

It is wonderful to know how God was heavily involved in presenting the detailed architectural plan for the temporary Tabernacle in Moses’ day (Exo 25-27), and the plan for the permanent Temple during David’s day (1 Chr 28). The Scripture says, “Moses was divinely instructed when he was about to make the tabernacle. For He [the LORD] said, ‘See that you make all things according to the pattern shown you on the mountain'” (Heb 8:5 NKJV). The LORD not only provided the detailed plan but also required strict adherence to that plan for divine reasons.

Moses didn’t have to modify any part of God’s plan for the Tabernacle because it was more than just a plan: every single segment had a heavy spiritual significance regarding the Person and the ministry of the Messiah. King David had a similar experience. He told Solomon (who was mandated to build the Temple), “Every part of this plan…was given to me in writing from the hand of the LORD”, as in our text. In both cases, there was abundant provision for the building projects, and God’s glory severally filled the buildings. Looking into the future, the Scripture already has in place the massive plan for the heavenly New Jerusalem that we shall live in forever with the Lord Jesus (Rev 21).

All these point to the truth that, first, God knows the end of everything He builds before He starts. Second, He is fully concerned about the tiniest detail of everything under His care. Third, He provides for whatever He is in charge of. Fourth, He finishes whatever He starts. Fifth, His glory rests on whatever He builds, and sixth, whatever He builds is for the honour of His Name, among others. Hallelujah! Beloved, in that light, therefore, it is a serious matter when the LORD Himself has said, “…I know the plans I have FOR YOU…plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future” (Jer 29:11 NIV). In Christ Jesus, we are God’s temple (1 Cor 3:16), and He is working in our lives in light of the six aforementioned truths—at least. Oh, Hallelujah!
