THE GREATER GLORY OF CHRIST

Deuteronomy 18:15 NKJV
“The LORD your God will raise up for you a Prophet like me from your midst, from your brethren. Him you shall hear.”

Part of the closing words about Moses, which the Spirit of God enabled him to write before his passing on, are thus: “Since then there has not arisen in Israel a prophet like Moses, whom the LORD knew face to face, in all the signs and wonders which the LORD sent him to do in the land of Egypt, before Pharaoh, before all his servants, and in all his land, and by all that mighty power and all the great terror which Moses performed in the sight of all Israel” (Deu 34:10-12 NKJV). Whereas God used Moses in such an unparalleled way among all Israel, the LORD had just started: He had an even greater plan for the entire world.

Before his death, the very Moses was used to tip off that plan and he spoke under divine inspiration, saying, “The LORD your God will raise up for you a Prophet like me from your midst, from your brethren. Him you shall hear”, as in our text. Notice, Moses’ reference to the Prophet as “like me” was regarding the Prophet’s background from “your midst [Israel], from your brethren [Jacob’s descendants].” In other words, the similarity between Moses and the said Prophet was in relation to their lineage, but not in terms of the power and glory to perform signs and wonders. In Acts 3:22, through Peter, the Holy Spirit revealed that Jesus Christ is the Prophet whom Moses talked about. Hallelujah!

Talking about the duo, the Apostle draws some wonderful parallels, saying, “…Jesus has been considered worthy of much GREATER glory and honor than Moses, just as the builder of a house has more honor than the house” (Heb 3:3 AMP). The Apostle added, “Moses was faithful in all God’s house as a servant…but Christ is faithful over God’s house as a Son, whose house WE ARE if we hold fast the confidence and the rejoicing of our hope firm to the end” (Heb 3:5-6 MEV). Hallelujah! According to the text, we are God’s house in Christ. Now, if the One over us, God’s house, is of “greater glory and honor”, certainly, “The glory of this latter house shall be GREATER than of the former, saith the LORD of hosts” (Hag 2:9 KJV). Hallelujah!
