Habakkuk 3:19 AMP
“The Lord GOD is my strength [my source of courage, my invincible army]; He has made my feet [steady and sure] like hinds’ feet And makes me walk [forward with spiritual confidence] on my high places [of challenge and responsibility]…”
Our walk with God in Christ Jesus requires constant spiritual strength, as this earthly domain weighs down the soul in many ways. As such, it is not wise to depend on one’s own strength to live the Christian life. On the other hand, however, it is also wise to rely on the LORD for His divine strength. Until we acknowledge our need for God’s help and take the deliberate steps to seek it, we are likely to remain spiritually weak and vulnerable. Again, we must acknowledge our need for divine strength and ask God for it. The Scripture says, “…you don’t have what you want because you don’t ask God for it” (Jam 4:2 NLT).
The Scriptures are full of people who recognized their need for God’s help and decided to seek His intervention immediately. For instance, the Psalmist testified, “I sought the LORD [on the authority of His word], and He answered me, and delivered me from all my fears. This poor man cried, and the LORD heard him and saved him from all his troubles” (Psa 34:4,6 AMP). Hallelujah! In our text, Habakkuk also testified and said, “The Lord GOD is my strength [my source of courage, my invincible army]; He has made my feet [steady and sure] like hinds’ feet and makes me walk [forward with spiritual confidence] on my high places [of challenge and responsibility].” Hallelujah!
Beloved, whereas many realize their need for God’s intervention and tend to do nothing about it, consider going a step further to call upon the LORD—who renews the strength of those who wait upon Him (Isa 40:31). Yes, we are meant to be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might (Eph 6:10); “strengthened with might through His Spirit in the inner man” (Eph 3:16 NKJV); and daily going from strength to strength (Psa 84:7). Given that God “…gives power to the weak, and to those who have no might He increases strength” (Isa 40:29 NKJV), freely and fearlessly call upon Him and be rescued! The LORD is the sure rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.
