DISPLAYING WHAT GOD’S DOING

Proverbs 29:18 MSG
“If people can’t see what God is doing, they stumble all over themselves; But when they attend to what he reveals, they are most blessed.”

Knowing what God’s Word says and receiving His divine instruction on matters is so important. His deeds in and through our lives can be easily seen when we are aware of, and reverently wait on Him in line with His word. In the days of the Prophet Isaiah, the LORD asked a touching question regarding the turning away of His people to evil sources, saying, “When men tell you to consult mediums and spiritists, who whisper and mutter, should not a people inquire of their God? Why consult the dead on behalf of the living?” (Isa 8:19 NIV). Indeed, being our only true and living God, the LORD greatly desires that we look to Him for everything at all times.

The LORD also wants to reveal Himself to those who do not yet know Him through us who already belong to Jesus. Our text of reference says, “If people can’t see what God is doing, they stumble all over themselves.” That says a lot. How then can people see what God is doing? Well, aware that God is already at work in us both to will and do of His good pleasure (Php 2:13), people are meant to see what God is doing through the “greater things” (Joh 14:12 NIV) that Jesus appointed us to do. He also said, “Let your light so shine before men that they may see your moral excellence and your praiseworthy, noble, and good deeds and recognize and honor and praise and glorify your Father Who is in heaven” (Mat 5:16 AMPC).

Through observing the overcoming grace of God at work in our lives, people certainly get drawn to believe in Jesus. ‘What if I’m not yet even seeing what I’m believing God for in my life (to begin with); what should I do?’ one may wonder. First of all, thankfully, it is fully settled that in Christ Jesus, you are already on the winning side! That alone sets you apart for David’s kind of testimony in Psalm 40 verses 1 and 3. He said, “I waited patiently for the LORD; he turned to me and heard my cry. He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will SEE and fear and put their trust in the LORD” (NIV). Most assuredly, in light of God’s great faithfulness, “Many will [truly] see” the beautiful displays of God’s marvelous deeds in your life, and put their trust in Him as a result. Keep on the winning side in Christ Jesus!
