Romans 5:1-2 NKJV
“Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom also we have access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.”
To be born again and identified as a child of God is so precious and liberating in many ways. There are spiritual privileges and access that God grants only to those who are in Christ Jesus. For instance, our Scriptures of reference says, “…having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom also we have access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.” Yes, in and through Christ Jesus, we have “peace with God”, “access by faith into this grace”, and we “rejoice in hope of the glory of God.” Hallelujah!
These are powerful truths; let’s take a moment to reflect on them. Notice, firstly, that it is one thing to have the “peace of God” that surpasses all understanding, and a totally different thing to have “peace with God”. Recall, before believing in Jesus Christ, we were “…enemies of God” (Rom 8:7 GNT), and headed for a terrible eternal loss in our attempts to ‘fight’ against Him. However, through the finished work of Jesus Christ, thankfully, God “…has reconciled us to Himself” (2 Cor 5:18 AMP), and we now have “peace with God” in Christ. Hallelujah! Secondly, our access by faith into the grace of God is also purely by Jesus Christ.
The Scripture describes it as “this grace in which we stand”. Looked at differently, our ability to stand in the face of all kinds of adversity can only be found in this “…grace of the Lord Jesus Christ” (2 Cor 13:14 KJV). Outside of that, there is just no hope of standing because all other ground is giving way, figuratively speaking. Inside His grace is our strength to stand. Finally, because of Christ, who in us is the “…hope of glory” (Col 1:27 KJV), we “rejoice in hope of the glory of God”. Put simply, regarding eternal matters, our future is bright and glorious in Christ Jesus. Blessed be God for peace, grace, and glory—all in and because of Christ Jesus. Hallelujah!
