Psalm 27:14 NKJV
“Wait on the LORD; Be of good courage, And He shall strengthen your heart; Wait, I say, on the LORD!”
Just before his godly counsel in our text of reference, David had said this in the previous verse: “I would have despaired had I not believed that I would see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living” (Psa 27:13 AMP). Hallelujah! As can be seen, David’s counsel in our text did not come from the blue; he had himself waited on the LORD, stood against all forces of despair, and remained in faith that he would ultimately “see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living”. Put another way, his trust in God that ‘all will certainly get better because of God’s faithfulness’, kept him courageous and steadfast against despair.
At every point and in every situation, we all must take on that faith-filled attitude and boldly declare, ‘In Christ Jesus, I will surely see and walk in the goodness of the LORD, whatever the case!’ Indeed, life under the sun comes with its twists and turns; but “…the just shall live by faith” (Heb 10:38 KJV). And, “…this is the victory that has conquered and overcome the world—OUR [continuing, persistent] FAITH [in Jesus the Son of God]” (1 Joh 5:4 AMP). Hallelujah! It is in deciding to walk by “continuing, persistent” faith in Christ Jesus that, figuratively speaking, life’s valleys become pathways, mountains get levelled, and all rugged paths get smoothened.
The Bible asks and answers, “Who is it that is victorious over [that conquers] the world but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God [who adheres to, trusts in, and relies on that fact]? (1 Joh 5:5 AMPC). Yes, our belief in Jesus Christ is such an important spiritual asset, to which no earthly value can ever be attached! In Him, we are not only destined for a glorious future in heaven, but also to “…reign in life by one, Jesus Christ” (Rom 5:17 KJV). Hallelujah! In light of all that, therefore, receive the godly counsel from the Psalmist: “Wait on the LORD; be of good courage, and He shall strengthen your heart; wait, I say, on the LORD!”
