GIVING VOICE TO SOUND WORDS

2 Timothy 1:13 NKJV
“Hold fast the pattern of sound words which you have heard from me, in faith and love which are in Christ Jesus.”

To think of the truth that whatever exists in creation today is a product of God’s spoken words is totally amazing. By the power of His word, the LORD brought to being both the visible and the invisible, and continues to uphold them by the “word of His power” (Heb 1:3 NKJV). Besides, while it was purely through words only that God blessed Abraham (Gen 12:1-2; Gen 22:17-18), the effect of that spoken blessing on his posterity speaks for itself to date! When the Lord Jesus lived among men physically, His words equally brought about great and wonderful transformations in the spirits, souls, and bodies of His hearers.

The speaking ministry of the Holy Spirit took a different mode but still carries the same power. Listen to what Christ said in that regard: “These things I have spoken to you while being present with you. But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you” (Joh 14:25-26 NKJV). Hallelujah! In other words, while the Father and the Son were once heard verbatim and directly, the Holy Spirit speaks in our hearts and brings God’s word to our minds (remembrance). That implies, in Christ, we are the ones to give voice to what the Holy Spirit speaks on the inside of us.

It is important to appreciate that creation and the desired changes took place only after God the Father and the Lord Jesus spoke forth what needed to be said. In the same light, the proper use of our tongues to give voice to the things the Holy Spirit is prompting on the inside is so crucial. Yes, that is so important, especially when it comes to restoring divine order to things or situations that are not aligning well with what God meant them to be. Put plainly, merely wishing that things would get better may not amount to anything, but speaking forth God’s Word, inspired by the Holy Spirit, over a matter brings about tremendous change for the better. Oh, keep speaking forth!
