GOD’S BLESSING IS POWERFUL

Genesis 39:23 NKJV
“The keeper of the prison did not look into anything that was under Joseph’s authority, because the LORD was with him; and whatever he did, the LORD made it prosper.”

How wonderful it is to have the hand of God upon one’s life! It dissolves arguments, opens good doors of opportunities (and closes bad ones), and causes more ascribed glory to rise to the LORD, among others. The hand of God upon his people is, indeed, what made the difference in their life experiences in the Scriptures. In Genesis 26, for example, as Isaac moved to the land of the Philistines because of famine, the hand of God was upon him. As a result, “Isaac planted crops in that land. In that same year he harvested a hundred times as much as he had planted because the LORD had blessed him” (Gen 26:12 GW). Hallelujah!

Even though Isaac was physically in the same situation and in the same environment as the Philistines, he was under a totally different spiritual address. The conducive spiritual atmosphere over his life (as a result of God’s blessing) had a positive impact on things he did. Joseph, Isaac’s grandson, equally experienced the power of God’s blessing. Although he had gone through his difficult share of challenges in this life, the LORD was with Joseph at every step of the way. Many good things that did not happen for the natives in Egypt, happened for Joseph (an enslaved foreigner)—because of God’s hand upon him. Yes, though he was away from his physical home, Joseph was ‘at home’ in God’s favour!

Indeed, the hand of God upon Jacob’s son perfected the things that concerned him. Our text says, “The keeper of the prison did not look into anything that was under Joseph’s authority, because the LORD was with him; and whatever he did, the LORD made it prosper.” Hallelujah! Though the false accusations from Potiphar’s house landed Joseph in prison, God knew the detailed truth. He made whatever Joseph did to prosper, nonetheless. It is not in vain to lead a life that honours the LORD. A lot may appear not to be aligned with God’s goodness towards you at the start, but time will tell that God was all the while working everything for your good and extraordinary blessing. The power of His blessing is always strong!
