KNOWING THAT THE LORD IS GOD!

Psalm 100:3 AMPC
“Know (perceive, recognize, and understand with approval) that the Lord is God! It is He Who has made us, not we ourselves [and we are His]! We are His people and the sheep of His pasture.”

After God created man in the first Garden, He entrusted him with dominion authority and certain responsibilities (Gen 1:26–27). Man stepped into his role and managed what was placed under his care. Yet, that did not mean mankind was meant to live entirely independent of God. We are still God’s responsibility to keep and sustain. Yes, the LORD will forever be the “…Father of [our human] spirits” (Heb 12:9 KJV); our Source of “Every good gift and every perfect gift” (Jam 1:17 KJV); and, the God who supplies “…all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus” (Php 4:19 NKJV), among all other things He alone does.

Using the outlook of a shepherd, David shed such great light on this truth. As in our text, he counselled that “Know (perceive, recognize, and understand with approval) that the Lord is God! It is He Who has made us, not we ourselves [and we are His]! We are His people and the sheep of His pasture.” Hallelujah!. Notice, it is already and fully settled that “the Lord is God”. There is no question about that. However, it is now our responsibility, with the help of God’s Spirit, to “Know (perceive, recognize, and understand with approval)” that the Lord is truly God, rest and remain steadfast in that truth, despite any contradictory and divergent circumstances. Hallelujah!

Child of God, that knowledge, perception, recognition, and understanding with approval that “the Lord is God” is not a passive act; it invites applying our hearts, on purpose, to the truth of the Scriptures and yielding wholly to the inner witness of the Holy Spirit. Put another way, doing what the Psalmist said is, as it were, a spiritual warfare against the devil’s lies that often bring unbelief, anxiety, fear, and such things that weaken faith. At any rate, it is our blessed heritage to live victoriously in Christ Jesus, which requires the life of faith that comes by hearing God’s word (Joh 1:16; Rom 10:17). Oh, keep knowing and recognizing that the Lord is God; that you are His; and that you are “the sheep of His pasture”, no matter what!
