Philippians 4:6-7 NKJV
“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”
The Passion Translation renders our Scripture of reference as follows: “Don’t be pulled in different directions or worried about a thing. Be saturated in prayer throughout each day, offering your faith-filled requests before God with overflowing gratitude. Tell him every detail of your life, then God’s wonderful peace that transcends human understanding, will guard your heart and mind through Jesus Christ” (Phi 4:6-7 TPT). Hallelujah! There is so much that goes on that the devil appears to have several ways to pump fear. However, that is partly why our faith in God is a daily necessity for living above the devil’s advances.
The Scripture teaches in more than one place that “…the just shall live by faith” (Heb 10:38 NKJV). That (faith in God) made the saints of old overcome the challenges they faced. The Psalmist shared one of his experiences with God and said, “I have been young, and now am old, yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken or his children begging for bread” (Psa 37:25 ESV). Hallelujah! Time spent walking with God, and experiencing His faithfulness is so important in building our confidence in Him. Indeed, when we look over our shoulders, we’ll soon realize that some things that once made us so anxious are no more—and yet, we’re still alive and well!
Blessedly, it is only God (and His Word) who does not change; else, everything is subject to change. Thus, as the Word says, nothing should make us anxious. However, we have to be prayerful. Yes, praying to God is an expression of our trust in Him. Knowing that God lives in eternity past, present, and future is another truth to help us receive rest on the inside. In other words, He is well aware of whatever concerns us, and, thankfully, He “…is able to [carry out His purpose and] do superabundantly, far over and above all that we [dare] ask or think [infinitely beyond our highest prayers, desires, thoughts, hopes, or dreams]” (Eph 3:20 AMPC). Believe that and live above anxiety, in the Name of Jesus.
