PRAISE CONTINUALLY TO GOD

Psalm 71:6 NKJV
“By You I have been upheld from birth; You are He who took me out of my mother’s womb. My praise shall be continually of You.”

Stopping and reflecting on the things the LORD has done, especially where He has brought you from, is so important and highly encouraged. Despite any heart-weighing things that may have happened over the years, for the most part, God’s goodness and grace have certainly been greater. Indeed, the fact that we are still here—able to live, move, and have our being—proves that God has fought so many battles for us, and has won them all! One person in the Scriptures who was good at reflecting on the goodness of God was David, the man after God’s own heart.

Even though David encountered more life-threatening situations than perhaps anyone else in the Scriptures, he continually praised the LORD. Talking of God’s faithfulness, the Psalmist said, “I have been young, and now am old; yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his descendants begging bread” (Psa 37:25 NKJV). Hallelujah! David had tasted and seen the unwavering faithfulness of the covenant-keeping God all of his life. In our reference text, he opened up heartily to the LORD and said, “By You I have been upheld from birth; You are He who took me out of my mother’s womb. My praise shall be continually of You.” Oh, hallelujah!

It is humbling to know that even when we rebelled against God in our days of sin and ignorance of the truth, He reached out through Christ and made peace with us. Yes, the Word says, “…God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not counting people’s sins against them [but canceling them]. And He has committed to us the message of reconciliation [that is, restoration to favor with God]” (2 Cor 5:19 AMP). Hallelujah! Now that we are at peace with God through Christ, it is only wise to decide to be at peace with our own selves, praise the LORD freely at all times, and “…forget not all His benefits” (Psa 103:2 NKJV).
