Isaiah 60:19 NKJV
“The sun shall no longer be your light by day, Nor for brightness shall the moon give light to you; But the LORD will be to you an everlasting light, And your God your glory.”
The unity of the Scriptures is one of the peculiar gems the Bible possesses. The similarities therein are striking, and their divinely guided fulfillments even add an incomparable notch to the messages it conveys. For instance, the Prophet Isaiah was shown great detail into the birth, the life, the death, and the resurrection of the Messiah. The Holy Spirit also showed the Prophet an amazing period when Jerusalem will experience the unbelievable: “The sun shall no longer be your light by day, Nor for brightness shall the moon give light to you; But the LORD will be to you an everlasting light, And your God your glory”, as in our reference text.
So many centuries later, in his spiritual vision of heaven, the Apostle John saw some amazing things. To begin with, a time came when John was to be shown “the bride, the Lamb’s wife” (Rev 21:9 NKJV). Strangely, John saw “the great city, the holy Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God” (Rev 21:10 NKJV) for a “bride”. Hallelujah! The glory, splendor, and magnificence of that bride depicted by the city are like nothing the world has ever seen (Rev 21:11-21)! Secondly, unlike many cities that have a temple, God’s house, in them, the one John saw had “…no temple in it, for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are its temple” (Rev 21:22 NKJV). Hallelujah!
Thirdly, John saw exactly what Isaiah had prophesied about in our text. “The city had no need of the sun or of the moon to shine in it, for the glory of God illuminated it. The Lamb is its light” (Rev 21:23 NKJV). Oh, hallelujah! While Isaiah’s prophecy largely touched the Israelites, John’s vision involved the “bride, the Lamb’s wife”. Given that the Lord Jesus is the only One referred to as the “Lamb” in heaven, His bride, certainly, will include all Jews and non-Jewish believers in Him. That being said, Beloved, meditate on this that the Psalmist said: “There is a RIVER whose streams shall make glad the CITY of God…God is in the MIDST of her, she shall NOT be moved; God shall help her, just at the break of dawn” (Psa 46:4-5 NKJV). Hallelujah!
