WORTHY OF PEACE BY THE SPIRIT

Luke 10:5-6 NKJV
“But whatever house you enter, first say, ‘Peace to this house.’ And if a son of peace is there, your peace will rest on it; if not, it will return to you.”

The instruction that Jesus gave to His disciples in our Scripture of reference says something to think about. He said those words when He was about to send them to go preach “…into every city and place where He Himself was about to go” (Luk 10:1 NKJV). Within the cities, the disciples were to go from house to house; and the Lord instructed that “…whatever house you enter, first say, ‘Peace to this house.'” He added, “And if a son of peace is there, your peace will rest on it; if not, it will return to you.” Who is “a son of peace” to be such a determining factor for the receipt of the blessing of peace?

The Amplified Bible version gives some insight into that and renders it as follows: “And if anyone of peace is there [someone who is sweet-spirited and hospitable], your [blessing of] peace will rest on him; but if not, it will return to you” (Luke 10:6 AMP). Who, in and of themselves can ever be “sweet-spirited and hospitable” unless the sweet Spirit of God is in them? Another version puts it this way: “And if anyone [worthy] of peace and blessedness is there, the peace and blessedness you wish shall come upon him; but if not, it shall come back to you” (Luk 10:6 AMPC). Again, who can ever be “[worthy] of peace and blessedness” without the grace of the Holy Spirit?

What Jesus said sends an important message: there is an attractive work of God’s Spirit through the lives of His people within households. That work of His Spirit qualifies us (in Christ) as “sons of peace”, and makes us “[worthy] of peace and blessedness”. Hallelujah! That said, it is therefore important that you, Child of God, are a part of your family or household. The Spirit of God in you is not only attracting God’s peace and blessings upon that household, but some would-be misfortunes and demonic influences that are being arrayed against your loved ones can’t stand a chance! Glory to God!
